I am a Chartered Physiotherapist with over 20 years of experience treating a wide range of physical conditions and injuries in all age groups.
I completed my Pilates matwork training in 2008 with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute to become a fully certified Pilates instructor.
Over the last 15 years, I have specialised in the rehabilitation of patients with back pain. I have worked closely with spinal surgeons and offer a unique way of teaching Pilates developed by physiotherapists from an evidence base on its effectiveness to reduce pain, improve physical function and wellbeing. I am passionate about Pilates and find it extremely rewarding to see people improve and achieve their goals.
I also specialise in the rehabilitation and rebalancing of athletes and those involved in sport, whether recovering from injury or surgery, or looking to enhance their performance. From top level dancers and football players to those wishing to complete a 5k run for the first time; there is a level for everyone.
I am also fully trained in ante-natal and post-natal Pilates.
Despite my clinical background, I am equally at home teaching those who simply want to improve tone, flexibility or general fitness.
My Pilates classes are as safe for all as they are challenging and effective and I am here to help you become a stronger, fitter and pain free version of yourself.

Two years ago I was in such agony with pain in my back and right down my leg. I had difficulty doing everyday things and walking with my family and friends was impossible . After an assessment with Jo she recommended I join her Pilates class - since then I have not looked back . I was nervous to start but Jo runs small classes so she can keep a really close eye on just what you are doing - and make sure you don’t do anything that could make things worse . I am now back to regularly walking eight hilly miles , back on my bike , and back to normal life . Doing classes via Zoom felt strange at first but it’s now the new normal - it’s great fun and a good work out.
The Pilates classes have worked for me as my lower back problem is hardly a problem any more. I also enjoy the hour stretching and in another world.
Jo's professional and friendly support and clinical direction is invaluable, especially with chronic conditions that limit flexibility and/or movement. Jo's targeted Pilates sessions are such an essential part of my life now. Thank you, Jo.
I thoroughly recommend Jo as a Pilates teacher both in normal times and for the last months via Zoom . She guides us through very gradually increasing exercises keeping an eye on how we are doing via correctly angled computers. She has a very pleasant manner. The hour races by. I started with her after a knee replacement and am sure that her classes have helped my rehabilitation and general suppleness and fitness. Thank you, Jo.
I first met Jo when I was referred to her as a physiotherapist, for support to improve an abdominal strength weakness. That was three years ago and to be honest, I have never looked back. Jo’s professional training as a physiotherapist makes her especially skilled in this field and she takes an acute interest in all our individual requirements and limitations. She is passionate about Pilates and has created a supportive and friendly group, both at her community classes and, more recently, via her online classes during the Covid 19 lockdown. Jo’s pleasant and friendly personality helps to make every member of the
group feel welcome and classes with Jo have become an enjoyable part of my weekly activities. I would recommend anyone looking to improve mobility, fitness and/or flexibility to try out Jo’s classes.
My husband Graham and myself suffered with bad backs for many years. About six years ago following a recommendation Graham and I joined Jo’s Pilates classes. No more bad backs! Our fitness and core strength is really good and we look forward to Jo’s classes every week. Give them a try - you have nothing to lose except your aches and pains.
I can thoroughly recommend Jo's classes. Having had lower back stiffness and episodic serious pain for a number of years my back and whole body is stronger and more flexible. Jo explains how the muscles and joints affect certain movements and which individual exercises benefit my own condition. Her classes have ensured I still live an active and full life. Many thanks, Jo. Don't ever stop!
Jo’s Pilates classes are superbly designed and balanced. She constructs the exercises so they target the areas of my disabilities that enable me to function normally. Without my weekly Pilates class my range of movement would be minimal.
